Exercise Parks

Granada is filled with parks all throughout the city. There are many plazas where you can sit out and have a tapa while your kids play in a nearby park. Granada also has what we call "exercise parks" that have exercise equipment in them. They are scattered throughout the city, and you will find many people (especially elderly people) using the machines. Our favorite is in the Realejo, a neighborhood close to the Alhambra. Here are some pictures of Phoebe on the various machines:
Rowing machine?

Chest press

This says that it is for your waist. It spins.

Leg press

Shoulder press

This one swings back and forth, almost like skiing. (Phoebe's favorite)

This is a hip flexor. You swing side to side. (Katy's favorite)

Massager

Elliptical
In this particular park, there is also a grassy area where many people come to walk their dogs. Here is Phoebe in the park area.

We love the idea of having these parks around town. It encourages good health and exercise, and it also creates a sense of community where people come with kids and dogs.

  1. They have these parks all over Santiago, Chile as well. Theirs are painted yellow, but basically the same thing. I suspect we don't have them in the US because of vandalism.
